How To Use FTP On HostGator

Sure, online file transfers from within the HostGator control panel are great but sometimes you need greater control over your account or simply want to do bulk transfer using a more reliable transfer protocol.

That’s where FTP comes in. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol so it’s literally made for the task.FTP Transfer

  1. The first thing you need to do is have an FTP client installed. If you don’t have one, we heartily recommend FIleZilla. Click here to download.
  2. The next step would be to create a new entry with your login information in FileZilla. So click on the Site Manager and create a new profile with your login information.
  3. Now, simply click on Connect and if you’ve entered everything correctly, you will be logged in to your account.
  4. Navigate your way using the explorer like interface to where your HTML files reside.
  5. From here, you can upload, download, delete or do whatever you want to complete.

What Is HostGator’s Refund Policy?

HostGator offers one of the best refund policies of any web hosting company.

In fact, if you are not completely satisified with their hosting, support, speed or anything else on your shared, reseller and VPS package, you can request a complete refund within 45 days of signing up.

That means you have a month of and a half to test every single feature they provide to see if it works for you.

Don’t forget they also have 24/7 phone and live chat support to assist you along the way should you run into any problems so always try them first.

If you still aren’t satisified, HostGator will refund you the full amount — that’s right, they won’t even charge you for that month.

This policy does not apply to dedicated servers since that is a special request item.

How To Transfer Your Website To HostGator

HostGatorSo now that you’ve decided to move your website to HostGator, how do you actually transfer your website to your new host?

The good news is, you don’t have to! The HostGator experts can transfer you entire website including files, databases, scripts, and even your domain for free.

All you have to do is submit a support request within 1 month of signing up and HostGator will get on the job. They’ll even do this if you’re not a new customer and have simply done an account upgrade.

We’ve checked with HostGator for the details and the number of transfers they do for you varies by the type of hosting package you have.

A full cPanel transfer means all domains, addon domains, subdomains, emails, settings and pretty much whatever else in the account.
